FY 2021 Government Witness Hearing

On Thursday, June 4, 2020, the Labor and Workforce Development Committee held a hearing for government witnesses on the FY 2021 proposed budget regarding all agencies under the Committee’s purview. 1/30 Paid Leave Implementation Roundtable

The Committee on Labor and Workforce Development will convene a public oversight roundtable on the implementation of the “Universal Paid Leave Amendment Act of 2016” and on PR23-0647, “Rulemaking for Paid Family Leave Benefits Approval Resolution of 2020.” The roundtable will be on Thursday, January 30, at 2020 at 11:00am in Room 120 of the John A. Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW).

Public Roundtable on Public Employee Relations Board Nominees

The Committee on Labor and Workforce Development held a roundtable on two nominations to the Public Employee Relations Board on Wednesday, December 11, at 10:00am in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW).

The nominees are Harriet Segar (PR23-539) and Peter Winkler (PR23-563).

12/6 Hearing on Legislation to Ban Non-Compete Agreements in the District

The Committee on Labor and Workforce Development Committee will hold a public hearing on Friday, December 6, at 10:00am in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) on the Ban on Non-Compete Agreements Amendment Act of 2019 (B23-0494).

12/3 Hearing on Collective Bargaining Fair Compare Amendment Act w/Draft Agenda

The Committee on Labor and Workforce Development Committee will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, December 3, at 10:00am in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) on the Collective Bargaining Fair Compare Amendment Act of 2019 (B23-531).

Fall 2019 Workforce Roundtables

The DC Council is reviewing the performance of the DC Infrastructure Academy, Local Adult Training program, Project Empowerment, and DC Career Connections to understand past program activities and to help inform its analysis for future budget decisions. In the Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) budget, the Council partly funded these programs on a one-year basis, placing most of the remaining funds for the three successive budget years in reserve. The Committee on Labor and Workforce Development will review the programs’ budgets as part of the Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21) budget process. 

Below is the data requested from the Department of Employment Services (DOES) by the Committee to determine the programs’ outcomes in preparation for the FY21 budget process.
