2019 Budget Oversight Hearing: Dept. of Employment Services & Workforce Investment Council (government witnesses)

Public Roundtable on AFGE 1403/District Agencies Collective Bargaining Agreement

The Committee on Labor and Workforce Development will hold a public roundtable on the collective bargaining agreement (PR23-226) between District of Columbia Nurses Association and District of Columbia Department of Health, Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, Department on Disability Services, Department of Health Care Finance, Child and Family Services Agency, the Department of Corrections, and Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department.

The roundtable will be on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in Room 123 in the John A. Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) beginning at 3:00pm or immediately following the preceding hearing. The draft witness list and agenda is available here.

Public Roundtable on AFGE 1403/Public Service Commission Collective Bargaining Agreement

The Committee on Labor and Workforce Development will hold a public roundtable on the collective bargaining agreement between AFGE 1403 and the Public Service Commission (PR23-191) on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 10:00am in Room 120 of the John A. Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW).

Weather permitting, the Committee on Labor and Workforce Development will hold a performance oversight hearing on Wednesday, February 20, at 10:00am in Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Avenue NW). The hearing will focus on the following agencies:

  • Office of Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining
  • Department of Human Resources

Silverman Letter on Transition Plan for Providence Hospital Workers

Closing the health equity gap in the District has become even more urgent with the full closing of Providence Hospital in Ward 5 anticipated by July 2019. As chair of the Committee on Labor and Workforce Development, Councilmember Silverman sent a letter to Mayor Bowser to request a clear course of action to assist Providence Hospital workers in transitioning to new employment and to ensure that the workers are aware of the resources the District offers to support job changes.
