B22-0618 - Driver's License Revocation Fairness Amendment Act of 2017

Law 22-236 requires the District to end the practice of suspending or revoking drivers' licenses or automobile registration or driving privileges as a penalty for failure to pay a civil judgment arising out of the person's ownership, maintenance, or use of a motor vehicle.

B22-0103 - Child Care Study Act of 2017

Non-traditional child care is a service offered to parents whose work schedule is outside of the standard hours of 7 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. Law 22-11 requires OSSE to conduct a study to evaluate the sufficiency of the number of non-traditional child care facilities. The evaluation must include the total number of current non-traditional facilities operating in the District, the current level of service being provided, the current need for non-traditional facilities, and recommendations. It also requires OSSE to assess the impact of increased education requirements for staff members as well as coordinate the sharing of necessary information with the Department of Employment Services.

B21-0412 - Solar Energy Amendment Act of 2015

Electricity suppliers who operate in the District are required to pay fees if they fail to comply with the applicable renewable energy portfolio standards for each year. As introduced, this bill establishes that the current compliance fee amount of 50 cents per kilowatt-hour of shortfall from required solar energy sources, shall remain in effect until 2023. Currently, the fee amount is scheduled to be reduced incrementally. The bill also permits monies contained in the Renewable Energy Development Fund to be used to assist households making less than the area median income for the District of Columbia Metropolitan area.
